    Before buying organic seeds at any retail store it is important to purchase current year seeds. Physically look at your seed packet and read the back label. All seeds should have the current year clearly marked. If they are last years seeds there is a good chance they will not germinate.

    Many big store nurseries will not toss out older seeds until a USDA inspector inspects seed packets to ensure only current seeds are sold.
