Xeriscape Grasses

Blue Gama Grass
Warm seasonal grass. Will NOT work above 7,000 feet.
Water requirements: Very Low, will tolerate poor soil and loves full sun. Low maintenance. Can grow up to 2ft. tall if not mowed.




Blue Tall Fescue
Is a deep blue/green ornamental grass, excellent for bordering along cement walks, ponds, or in rock gardens. Needs good amended soil. It can tolerate full sun and partial shade
Water requirements: Moderate watering. Good mountain area grass. Insect resistant and tolerates shade.

Purple Fountain Grass
Beautiful long narrow stemmed burgundy colored leaves. Can grow up to 4ft. tall. Has soft, featherlike flower plumes. Excellent ornamental grass.
Water Requirements: Low to moderate water. Grown as a perennial in colder regions.

Maiden Hair Grass
Also called Miscanthus grass and Chinese Silver grass. White-Bronze like color about 10" long. Showy fall plumes.
Water Requirements: Most varieties of this xeriscaping grass require low water. Likes full sun can tolerate some light shade.

Chinese Fountain Grass
Is a warm seasonal xeriscaping grass. Has a foxtail flower and blooms in late summer. Very attractive inflorescence leaves throughout the season.
Water Requirements: Moderate to low water. Almond colored straw in late fall.
